Hide and you will be seen...
Seek and you shall find...


It was an ordinary day for the kids of Barangay Ampalayag. The sun's light was gently dying down from the darkness of the entering night, resting from shining the whole day. It was beautiful, light and darkness kissed and mixed in the vast skies. It was a grand seeing the beauty of it just like this.

The kids of Ampalayag were excited for they about to play the best games from the games they had played. Tonight, when the moon is at its full and the sky is dark, its typical that they play that special game- Taguan. It was making them excited especially that sunset was over and everything seemed hidden by the dark.

Taguan was Arcee's favorite. the kid has some talent in hiding. He was always the last to be found when they are playing hide and seek. He has the knack for it. He was the youngest from the brood of three. He was the favorite of his clan. He was so tiny yet so smart. He always wear that smile, that jolly face that is why he is well-loved by many. He's a kid from an upper class compared to those kids who belonged to not-to well families. He always have the best toys, the best clothes when everything for the other kids are scarce. They envy him but the best thing about Arcee is that he share to them all what he has got. He is humble.

it was dark. The kids gathered from that familiar tamabayan. The place where they always treat as their base. The base of their pleasure, the “taguan”. There was Jaja, a relative of Arcee with his two younger siblings Ar-ar and Jenny. Bao-bao and Elyn are there to participate too with their youngest brother Ponny. They are the children of the chief-tain in the barrio. They formed the younger group. The rest of the gang are adolescents experiencing ther early pubescence.

The game started. That familiar shouting of number sequence.. isa, dalawa tatlo as the kids hastily make head their way to hid themselves, among the bushes, behind a tree etcetera et cetera. Arcee was confused if how he will hid himself. He was too excited. His heart pounding so hard. He was nervous and thrilled for if he will not hid himself carefully, he will be found and become the next it.

Until, he heard a hiss from someone.. “Psstt.. psst..

His Uncle Yam was calling him..”Arcee, here. Come here, quick. Hide here!”

Arcee's face glowed in delight. His uncle was his saving grace. The light in the darkness of confusion, especially now he has no place to hide. Arcee run hastily towards his uncle and quickly the old man shut the door and smiled devilishy while Arcees so trusting of the fraud haven he found unaware of a danger that awaits for him.
